My husband was diagnosed with heart failure 3 years ago. He is becoming increasingly tired. His dose of Ramipril has been increased to 10mg before he is changed to a different drug. He has become increasingly tired. Does anyone have any experience of this.

Hi I was the same they put my ramipril up to 10 mg my body did not like that one bit to cut long story short I took to taking cayenne pepper in my tea start with a tiny amount on the tip of a tea spoon and build it up slowly I am up to one tea spoon a day now it really does give you a boost try it but do start small and build it up best of luck tweety.

Hello Spar and a Happy New Year

Does your husband have a Heart Failure Nurse or HF team who you can contact for advice ?? I also have HF had a CABG which didn't improve things !!! and been on various medication which has been changed a few times.

I move in and out of H F stages sometimes classed as Moderate and can move to Severe quite quickly without changing anything. Tiredness can come from either H F or from the Medication I think that's why they change the Meds to keep you ticking over, without tiring you out ( if that makes sense )

It's definitely worthwhile seeing GP for a check when symptoms change like getting more tired for no apparent reason.

I changed from Ramipril to Candesartan (because of Cough a known side effect of Ramipril do you know why they have increased his Ramipril ??

Regards

Hi thank you for your reply w. The ramipril was increased from 5mg to 10mg pending a change of drug as there is a new one now that is deemed to be better but he needed to be on a higher dose before changing. He does have an appointment with the HF nurse in a couple of weeks time but I might ring her before if things don't improve.

Hi again Spar,

Do you know the name of the new Medication ? Valsartan ?? or something like that ??

I thought you would have an HF Nurse good to have a professional on call.

Hope all goes well
