I was recently fitted with an ICD and will soon be travelling with it for the first time via Heathrow. I looked at the customer services section on line for Heathrow and Gatwick for comparison. Gatwick seems friendly and says I merely need to talk to someone before going through, Heathrow says there is no evidence of harm being caused by any of their machines.
Can anyone who has gone through Heathrow with an ICD let me know whether the experience was a good one?

I cant say about Heathrow but I went through the body scanner at Edinburgh Airport a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. I told the security guard I had an ICD and he said it would be ok to go through.
I live in Spain and a few weeks ago travelled to Italy, the first time of flying since having my ICD fitted in October last year. I was obviously quite concerned about it but at Malaga airport I just showed my card to the security at the arch and they waved me past the side of it and did a manual pat down. Exactly the same happened in Rome airport on the way back. Unfortunately my experience of British airports are that the staff are officious and surly but I cannot comment on Heathrow as I have never used it.
A colleague had a device fitted about five years ago at age 30 as he was diagnosed with the same condition that caused Fabrice Maumba's dramatic on pitch collapse. He was advised that some scanners could cause the device to trigger and not to go through them.
I have had Type I diabetes for many years and been to Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany and Australia without issue as I carry my insulin, testing meter and injection kit in my hand luggage. The only airport I have ever had issuers was Heathrow on more than one occasion - Luton was fine
