Toot toot! Hooray! That's a great milestone
Congratulations!
Hi Jenny, good to hear from you. How are you getting on with the ticking? Hopefully it isn't still keeping you awake.
Best wishes.
Annette
Hi there,
Ooh i am still having bother with this ticking,it's so loud.i am up half the night as wakes me up sadly😢 nothing much i can do about it though.
Having some extra beats at the min so waiting for a 24hr machine now.its scaring me a bit as its happening nearly all day but apart from that i am doing ok.
How are you?
Jenny x
Hi Jenny, sorry to hear you are still not sleeping and having extra beats. Hope they can sort you out after the 24hr tape.
As you say it is worrying. I go for lung function tests on 1st Dec and I have asked to meet my surgeon again the same day as I am still not convinced that further surgery is right for me at the moment 😕
Best wishes
Annette
Well done for remaining so positive throughout, it must be really hard, being sleep deprived and still having some worrying symptoms after all you have been through. Hopefully the 24hr monitor will offer some reassurance. I think it does take a long time to regain confidence in your body when it has given you a fright and 12 weeks post op is still very early days, I guess.
This is a totally random suggestion, but have you considered hypnotherapy to help with your awareness of the ticking? My friend just did a couple of sessions of hypnotherapy to deal with her anxiety over driving and has been amazed at the results. I know it's a very different situation, but just thinking you can't get rid of the ticking, so you need to find a way to change your perception/reaction.
I remember my consultant telling me, when I was first diagnosed, how important good quality sleep was for heart patients and to make sure I was getting plenty of it. Considering my diagnosis coincided with the arrival of a baby, that wasn't really an achievable goal! Ha! Six years later, and my daughter is only just sleeping through the night (it's been a long and tiring struggle...) and it has made a big difference to how I feel/how tired I am. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll get some good quality sleep soon too x
Great post and hope you are doing well x
Me too ☺️. Well Done! I had a valve sparring aortic root replacement and I’m just over 4 months since having it done.
Strangely enough, I remember it all as if it were only a couple of weeks ago, all fresh in my head. I think I will remember it all for the rest of my life, which I’m glad because I can then look back and say “Yeah, I did that” ☺️
Good Luck!
Liam.
Congratulations... Onwards and upwards. Keep well X
Fab news!! I’m 5 years since mine and I still can’t quite believe I came out the other end and achieved so much since ! Forever grateful for the NHS and medicine of today! Hope your recovering well and feel great
