I had chemo and high dose radio therapy 23 years ago and I now find myself with heart and lung failure as a direct result. I am suffering with Severe aortic stenosis and COPD but I am trying CBD (cannabis oil) to relieve the pain and palpitations. Is there anyone else that has been through similar. I have been told I will have valve replacement as a last resort 😬. Thank you

Hi I had AVR 14weeks ago. I showed no symptoms as such put passed out a couple of times, and looking back I use to feel tired, had no idea there was a problem with my heart, it turned out to be genetic and I must of had a small defect at birth. I had chronic Stenosis, I wasn’t allowed home and stayed in my local hospital for 2weeks and had all the necessary tests before being transferred to Southampton for operation. I was in shock, and very scared, but it really wasn’t as bad as I imagined. I was home home 5 days after op and returned to work 3 days ago. I feel physically fine, it’s just the depression I find hard, it’s a side effect of heart surgery, some people get away without it, but please be prepared. It still seems unreal that I went through all that. This site is a real help to ask question, get advise from people who have been there and done that also to let off steam. Wishing you all the best, and we are here when you need us. Kaz ❤️💕❣️
I had severe Aortic Stenosis 11 years ago and had a mechanical valve fitted, not without the odd problem afterwards but no regrets now.
