Adalat 🤔

So I was on them for 8 months and no issues, was able to exercise and walk miles. Then developed headaches and doctor took me off them and said no one is on them now, there are better ones to take, was put on bisoprolol and can no longer take them.

Advised by a different doctor to go back on adalat - so any advise, views much appreciated ❤️ ty

Sharron - both Adalat and Bisoprolol are used to keep blood pressure down. Not altogether sure why these have been changed in your case, but there is a great deal on forums concerning the latter and many, including myself, are unable to tolerate the fatigue side effects of Bisoprolol. However, this is not everyone and my husband takes it daily without any ill effects. I suspect that Bisoprolol is now the more commonly used and available drug, if not entirely pricewise and this would account for the change. However, if you find this drug doesn't suit you as well as the Adalat, then you should request the change telling of the symptoms. I am now on Candestartan for BP, so there are very many alternatives out there. See how it goes and how you feel, but both drugs will do the same job.

I can't tolerate any beta. Blockers, so only given Ramipril(ace-inhibitor) which also can be affective on its own

Ramipril made me cough and cough - a known side effect for some. All these drugs are and try and see on an individual basis until you find the one which does the job with the fewest side effects....

I had ramipril originally but came of it cause the cough u get, been in so many combinations I forget, thanks for reply it reminded me I was on them as well 😁

I was on candestartan but that and adalat dropped my blood pressure, so came of them and stayed on adalat, originally prescribed for angina. Then came of adalat to go back on bisoprolol but now they have been stopped and I’m back on adalat - it’s hard to keep up 😁 I’m going back to docs to review them all again 😁

It makes me cough, but I'm only trying it to see if it's suitable. I had all my meds stopped and introduced one at a time so beta blockers not suited to me. . This is the first ace inhibitor, but I have noticed the cough which is getting annoying

Sharron: Yes, a new review of your drugs sounds like a very good idea. For instance, my husband has just had Amlodipine added as his blood pressure was still too high on the Bisoprolol alone. I myself have just had the Candestartan increased from 16mg to 24mg for the same reason and we are both now keeping a chart for the doctor and having blood tests for kidney function which is what our doctors here do every time a blood pressure medication is increased or changed.
