Hi I'm new here
Hi dbreen
It must be very frustrating to be 14yrs old and living with a heart condition and I'm sure it must impact on your daughters life especially being a teenager.
As her mother you must be very anxious and wish you could take it all away .
I had aortic stenosis and now looking back I understand why I felt tired and out of breath after doing the most simple daily task. I was born with a small defect and had no idea. Had my op 8wks ago tomorrow. I'm sure your daughter will get all the medical help she needs, NHS may not be perfect but we still have the best health care.
I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you more constructive advice
,but I can offer you my support and the very best of wishes.
Hi there - sorry to hear about your daughter’s heart condition, it can be really tough growing up feeling different and it’s not easy for parents either!
If it’s if any interest to you, we have a support programme for teenagers with heart conditions. We run events across the UK that are completely free - we pay all expenses for travel, accommodation, food and the event itself for both the teenager and their parents.
It’s a great opportunity to meet other families in a similar situation, so if you’re interested you can read a little more about it here: bhf.org.uk/heart-health/chi...
I hope this helps.
Take care,
Chris
Hi
My son had this and was operated on at 15
Unlike your daughter he had no symptoms whatsoever, so that part, we struggled with as he looked and acted so healthy.
Are they going to operate ? If so , rest assured your daughter will feel so much better.
It's amazing how 14/15 year olds bounce back.
Much Love ❤️
Hi Reilly that is so reassuring, I know it is a heavy burden for a teenager to carry. Thanks x
