fitbit friends

I've noticed a few people around here have mentioned having a Fitbit. Just wondering if any of you fancy becoming Fitbit friends? My only Fitbit friends are my walkaholic father and my 12-year-old niece, was thinking it might be nice to add some other wonky-hearted types to the mix. I'm not suggesting we compete against each other (ha - what a thought!) but we could cheer each other on and maybe do the odd goal day or one of the virtual walks at our own individual paces? Let me know if you fancy it. If there's a few of us we could maybe arrange to work as a group, I'm happy to collect and pass on relevant details if so.

Yes I have a Fitbit. It has a heart monitor too. I have got significant heart failure, Coronary heart disease. Intermittent abnormal irregular heart rhythm and Unstable angina. So I seem to have the works! I'm on lots of medication. I've to do what I can and pace myself so not able to do a lot to impress the Fitbit.

All the more reason to pal up with similar people, I reckon, we'll all be better placed to realise how well you're doing, even if your Fitbit doesn't! I'll leave this post sitting for a few days then message everyone who's replied.

Happy to Laura.

I am (a lot) older than you, Familial hypercholesterolemia, two HA, one unstented blockage and Constant Angiospasm attacks.

I walk 70,000 - 90,000 steps a week (30-40 miles) and believe it is the constant exercise (together with a low sugar diet) that has kept me alive over the last two years.

Sure thing - really enjoy using mine and it's great motivation. I'm 28 and waiting for valve replacement so good to keep me getting fitter.

Hi Laura. I am getting one for Christmas so I would love to join (that’s if I can work out how to use it).

I am thinking about getting one in the January sales with some xmas vouchers. I was put on a beta blocker yesterday and so I'm going to be listening to my body for at least the next 2 weeks as my system adjusts to the new medication. I ran/cycled a lot before my problems began.

Will a fit bit help me to gradually build up my activity ( as well as monitor my heart rate?)

I have no idea how one works or how to set it up but have teenage sons at home that I am sure are more tech savvy than me!

😂

Some fitbits have heart rate monitors, they are not exact but can help you get used to your heart and your lowered heart rate with beta blockers. If you were fit before it will take some effort to get your heart rate up to 80% so I don't recommend that, but it will give you a good idea
