I had endoscopy two years ago. Asked for anaesthetic, throat was sprayed quickly followed by scope etc. Little uncomfortable but not too bad. The thought of it was worse than procedure. Good luck.
I had sedation for my endoscopy. It left me sleepy all the rest of the day I remember. If there's a next time I'd try and avoid it.
I've had both a TOE (internal ultrasound done from down the throat) and a colonoscopy. The first time I had the TOE I had a strong gag reflex, so subsequent times I had sedation first. If you are sedated it is not a bad procedure, involving discomfort rather than pain. If you are on warfarin, however it is a different story - you have to be weaned off it before and then back on to it afterwards. A major hassle!
