I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia and SS. After a few years of intense palpitations last year I was finally investigated to see if I had any heart problems. I had a ultra sound which revealed I had a part of my heart muscle not working like it should along with an ECG with spikes in the wrong place. It was concerning enough for me to be rushed for a angiogram. This revealed no blockage. Which surprised my cardiologist. In the meantime I was rushed into casualty with severe chest pain. My ECG did not show anything different but my blood test showed I was having a heart attack even on the second test. So a strange scenario. My consultant says he feels it was a heart attack even though the MRI is saying no muscle damage as it could be a very small part of the muscle that is damaged and I have microvascular angina. I have been given bisoprolol and Isosorbide monotrate which has I believe worked well. This week I have been feeling unwell with sweating, palpitations again and very tired. Last night I was feeling sick and having bad chest pain and every nerve in my body felt on edge. I couldn't lye down so had to sleep sitting up. I took a spray of angina spray with paracetamol and eventually the pain subsided and I managed to get some sleep. My heart had been racing very badly well it felt like it. Today I just feel washed out. Does anyone think this was an angina attack and should I ask to speak to my cardiac consultant I am on an appointment when need to basis. I found it very scary and I don't scare easy.

Hi Gilly, I'm sorry to hear you had this episode- it's difficult to say if it was definitely an angina attack but I hope you are feeling better today. I would suggest if it happens again and it's a prolonged episode to go to A&E to be checked out, especially if you use the angina spray and it is ineffective. It might be an idea to touch base with your GP too so he knows how you are feeling. if you can be reviewed by your consultant it might give you some peace of mind. You have had a lot go on recently to do with your heart so it's very common to experience symptoms around the heart area and to have palpitations.

Thank you Philippa, we are on holiday at the moment so I will just pace myself and contact my gp when home unless I have another episode. Still feeling very short of breath doing very little. 👍
