had Psoriasis for years but health gas been getting worse last 5 years cerebral APS heart arrhythmia and now Psioratic arthritis. I had put all my pains and symptoms down to my Antiphospholipid Syndrome but on a respiratory appointment the consultant said you should t be in this much pain and wrote to my GP and got a fast referral to a rheumatologist. One blood test and mri later and I’m on MTX to go with all my other pills. Not sure if it’s been caught early enough and obviously need to wait for the MTX to work but the pains are still getting worse could hardly walk today and I’m only 52

I can definitely relate to you and your pains Im also 52 and developed psoriatic arthritis 7 years ago after having a thyroidectomy for cancer…. I saw 3 Rheumatologist that kept telling me my pains were just Osteoarthritis and I need to stop all my physical activities for a while and allow myself a break… I was a (fitness instructor at this time) I could hardly walk just getting up to go to the bathroom was a challenge and forget getting up and down in chairs or stairs I couldn’t do it…. Finally after 2 years I had enough of being in pain for “no reason” I sought out a 4th opinion paid out of pocket she was a psoriatic arthritis specialist and researcher she only took your case if you fit her criteria and you guessed it I 100% did …. I’ve had psoriasis since I was 5 years old (lucky me) …. I have never been on MTX I was put on Cosentyx (300mg) injections right away …. My issues were to advanced for MTX …. Im currently on Cosentyx and Otezla each of these drugs alone isn’t enough but together they work pretty good …..
If you only been on MTX for a short time you may need to give it time and keep track of any issues you experience while on it…. I have found Australian Dream Cream is helpful for joint pains and I also been grinding up one tablespoon of whole flaxseeds and adding to my morning smoothie and I swear this is helping my joints …. You also should get tested for thyroid problems since this is also common with PSA and so is Anemia due to inflammation…. Both of these have been my nemesis.
hi thank you for your reply. I am on so many drugs for all my different ailments on my MTX night I take over 21 tablets! Even my local pharmacy can’t keep up with me! I managed to walk 3 miles yesterday (well I had to for an appointment at hospital in London) and overnight was in pain and today had been awful. Going to finish off my pip claim as I had enough with my mental health due to the APS but it should now be a no brained I hope!
I definitely understand the multiple health issues and pills …. Me too!
You can go drug.com and check interactions against each pill you take I realize pharmacies do this but double checking isn’t a bad idea … some pills can’t be taken at same time and even certain food /vitamins can interfere/interact….. Nice job walking 3 miles your doing better then me!
I found this on national psoriasis foundation and thought it would interest you about MTX.
