I have a scaly rash on my face and have been concealing this with make up as much as I can. I wondered what everyone else did to conceal it.
I set myself a little task of going out to get groceries without concealing it and I got a lot of stares that's made me think of alternatives to conceal it.
I have psoriasis patches on my face (as well as my whole scalp and all over my body) and couldn't wear make up as it just sunk into the scales and made it more obvious. I have recently been using Epionce firming mask. Kinda expensive (£29 for a small tube!) but it really softens the skin so I can put normal make up over it. I also only use this on my face and hairline due to how expensive it is!
It's all natural ingredients and I put a small amount on in the evening or just after I wake up. I don't rinse it off I leave in on for super hydration. Also it smells really nice so that doesn't hurt!
I really struggled with people staring at me but mostly it's just curiosity. It's different from the norm so they just wanna look but it's always hard when you don't want to be stared at!! I have the same problem!
I was so embarrassed it's the first time in a while I plucked up the courage to go out without make up covering it up. I had a lady the cashiers staring at me while I loaded my groceries on. I have Rosacea and was having a flare day so it looked pretty dramatic but they way she was looking I thought - thanks now I feel ugly 😔 wish I said that to her.
Thank you for the suggestion I will have a look. Anything to get rid of the flakes once the make up goes on.
I had a cashier in Boots stop half way through a transaction to ask me if I was ok and pointed out where the antihistamines were.
I used to be super embarrassed and didn't want to tell people but society is nosey as hell and I have found it helps to just tell the truth. The amount of times I've been asked if I have an allergic reaction / been bitten loads / asked what on earth is wrong with my skin I have learnt that by casually saying "oh no it's actually Psoriasis" and explaining briefly then people either feel embarrassed they have got it wrong or they ask more and they learn. The problem is people don't really know much about it so it helps when people know and they can get back to treating you like normal
I started joking about getting a tshirt saying "It's called Psoriasis" and wearing it out but now I'm seriously thinking about it haha
Do you find it odd that some people actually have the courage to ask you what it is? What makes people think they have the right to know?
I had a patch on my neck under my jaw (I don't know if what I have is psoriasis but it's definitely Rosacea!) it's was flaky and red. It looked just like a love bite..some of the ladies at work all passed comments to each other but not actually ask me. So I let them sit and gossip 😁 it was the way I was being scanned that made me feel so uncomfortable at Sainsbury's,
The audacity of strangers never ceases to amaze me. I wouldn't dream of commenting and I have had people who I've never met and don't know what I have tell me their opinion of what I should do. Insanity! Haha
When I would get patches on my face I would use a mild steroid cream and keep it moisturized but really I and now 47 so the past few years I really don't care what other people think anymore. The more they see this the more they can understand what it is.
