I have a bath oil called Olilatum and you can also use Epsom Salts, Magnesium bath flakes, Pink Himalayan Bath Salts or Dead Sea Bath Salts .. Most refreshing they are, I have tried all of them seperately of course

Hi I have tried so many creams. The one that works for me is Diprosalic ointment but you will need a prescription.

Best thing to do is get a referral to see a dermatologist at your local hospital

I agree with essexmike. Psoriasis can be very stubborn. Meanwhile a good emollient cream could make all the difference and your partner's GP should be able to help with that if he / she hasn't done so already. Some of the best creams are only available on prescription, my favourite is Balneum Cream which contains urea (no, it does not smell of urine). It says on the bottle that people with psoriasis lack urea in their skin and it was my dermatologist's big recommend.

Oh, and stress truly can make psoriasis worse. Alleviating stress if often easier said than done, but anything he can do to feel less stressed has got to be worth it.

I get Epaderm cream on prescription which is a moisturiser and for me free so cheaper than all the moisturisers in the chemists. I lather it on thickly every morning (I then have to wait for it to dry before I can dress ) and also apply Exorex lotion, again on prescription (a tar oil stuff but not particularly smelly ) both morning and evening. I had extensive guttate psoriasis and it has nearly all healed. I know psoriasis comes and goes so I am going to continue the treatment and I hope to avoid a new flare up. I have had ps. for years and tried every cream under the sun and have found this best for me. I occasionally use a steroid cream if things are bad but only for a week and then taper it off. Hope this helps

De-stress, exercise/lose weight and dermatologist appointment are a good starter for 10. Emollient creams and bath additives can also help. Oilatum did help me a little, although not sure if it was the soak in the warm water rather than the additive in the bath that helped?! I use Avino lotion, quite expensive but I get mine on prescription, so works out cheaper. I also use T-Gel shampoo for my scalp. You can find all sorts of hints and tips on the internet, including turmeric, dead sea salts, but it is an individual thing of what works for you. Making sure you are hydrated, good diet and lose clothing over the affected area can also help. There are a host of treatments that the derm can advise on starting with emollients, steroid creams, light therapy, and moving through various different drug solutions dependant upon your type of p and the extent/coverage. I found that using steroid creams only helped manage the condition temporarily, and when I stopped using the steroid cream the patch came back worse even if I tapered the use of the creams. Good luck.
