Shorts anyone?
<3 thank you Georje!!!
Thing is, is it just me or does the rash in the picture really not look too bad at all? I mean, that is a bad case of psoriasis but it doesn't seem to actually change the overall look of a person that much. And that's how I've always felt when I've seen people with psoriasis who have the confidence or sheer defiance to wear (or not wear) what they want.
Then I found out it was different when it happened to me. That's when I needed to see messages like this. Great post Georje.
I've never had this kind of psoriasis and this doesn't look so bad to me. Mostly pink skin with some whitish scaling just beginning. What did look bad was seeing big loose 1.5 inch wide yellow scales in a guy's light brown hair as he laid his head against his girlfriend's dark straight black hair with no scales at all. The contrast was startling. I felt bad for him and that his GF was very kind and understanding to not mind at all.
Love eh? Can't beat it!
As a teenager,(newly diagnosed and covered with plaques) I was told to leave a swimming pool by the attendants. Never forgotten the mortification of that
The attendant needed training on what was contagious and what isn't, that my polite version!
Mine was a hairdresser, she looked at my head and the horror on her face has never left me. Eversince if I use a new hairdresser I ask for a consultation first if they pass the 'horror test' then I let them deal with my hair otherwise I get up and walk out.
Being a hairdresser myself I educate my apprentices and every other hairdressers I get in contact with
Unbelievable. I find the attendants don't stare, although in all fairness I taught most of them at the pool I go to (it's attached to the school I worked at and most of the staff come from that small village). However, the complete lack of staring also possibly suggests training about skin conditions. Pretty sure that happens, or should happen, these days.
So sorry that happened to you. It's them that should feel mortified.
