Reusable nappies

Is anyone using or planning to use reusable nappies? I’m planning to this time around but there are so many options I’m not sure where to begin!!

We do have a cloth nappy hire facility near us which means I could test out a whole load of different ones but ideally I’d like to have at least a handful of our own to use once we are out of hospital.

Any recommendations please!!

X

We use cloth, I love them! I use mainly bambino mio and totsbots all in ones but there are lots of different options. Have a look at the Nappy Lady website. Some councils will give you a grant towards them, I got £30 from mine, not much but a bit towards! Feel free to message me if you've got any questions x

Thank you for replying. I am thinking of starting with a starter set from bambino mio. They do seem to get great reviews and are more affordable than many others I have looked at. It’s great to hear that a real person likes them too!! My council do the £30 thing too which is great. It’s all so daunting but I’m also so excited to give it a go.

Have you been using reusable wipes as well?

Yes we use cheeky wipes and also some I got from the Nappy Lady which are great as they are towelling on one side and fleece on the other. I'd also recommend getting some of the stuff you add to the wash so you can wash the nappies at 30°, bambino mio do one or there's also Napisan which you can get from most supermarkets. We use bamboo liners which we put in the compost bin or you can get reusable fleece liners.

My lb didn't fit into the birth to potty nappies very well until he was about 8 - 10 weeks old. We had a few newborn cloth nappies but mainly used disposables until he was big enough.

Aldi also do their own cloth nappies in the baby events, we've got a couple, they're only about £4.99 and for that price they're brilliant!

The only problem I find with cloth nappies is that they are so cute I keep buying more!

Fab, the cheeky wipes look good. I think I’ll start now with some face wipes for my 3 year old. It’ll help me to practice! The nappies really are gorgeous aren’t they. I’ve just bought a couple by motherease which are aimed at newborns so I’ll play with them and disposables until the baby is big enough to fit a one size nappy.

Thanks again for your help. X

Hi

I've tried most types. If I could go back to the beginning I would have just got terries from the start. We use terries at home and two parters at nursery now. Pockets are absorbent enough anymore. They were great for a while.

A nappy library is a good idea but things change. That's why I like terries as they are very adaptable, great absorbancy, quick drying and easier to wash than many other styles.

I'm in Brazil so can't advise you on brands but I love my reusables. So cute and very good at containing big poos especially after she went on solids. We use reusable liners so I can scald them now and again, as the covers we have can only be cool washed. No regrets here except we might not be able to have a second baby to get even more use out of them xxx

Great, thanks for your post. Everyone who uses them seems to love them, can’t wait to get started! X
