6 month sleep issues

Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well! I'm having such a bad time with Llewy's sleep over the last couple of weeks. He's always been a good sleeper, we sort of bed share - his cot is attached to the side of my bed with one of the sides taken off. He usually goes to bed at 7pm and he comes in with me when he wakes up at around 1am then boobs on and off until wake up around 6am. But this last few weeks he's learned to crawl and since then he's so unsettled, he sits up in his sleep and starts crawling about, he wakes up ridiculously early - before 5am today 😳 this is fine at the moment as I'm off work for the summer but come September this is going to be a massive issue.

Basically I'm asking is this normal and will it stop? I'm starting to get quite down about the very early wake ups, it's a very long day alone with a baby when the day starts at 5am 🙁 thanks for reading if you've got this far ❤️

6 months already!! Can't believe how fast they're growing!! It's such a great age, they're learning to do so much and I think when they've mastered a new skill they just want to do it all the time - even in the middle of the night unfortunately. How do you think he'd be if you left him in the closed cot after feeding so he could wriggle around all he wants to?

How are you - apart from tired?

I know, it's flown by!! He's actually 7 months next week 😳

We're thinking of putting the side back on the cot and leaving him in there after a feed. I just know I couldn't leave him if he started crying.

We're loving his character and all his funny little ways, it's been nice to get out and catch up with friends and family. I hope you're all well, it must be almost Millie's birthday? xx

It was her birthday on Thursday. Crazy how fast this year's gone!! It's lovely now you can see their personalities. Millie cracks us up, little drama girl.

I don't leave her to cry either. She's a good sleeper, usually sleeps right through, but when she does wake and cry I'll give her a cuddle for a minute or two, then put her back but stay next to her cot until she drops back off. She's usually fine and can settle when she knows I'm there. Have a google of 'sleep nudging', it's not training as such, not leaving them to cry, just 'nudging' them to push the boundaries of their comfort zone in terms of what they need to be able to settle themselves. Hope he starts sleeping in a bit longer!!

Good tip, thank you! I will definitely have a look in to that. It sounds nice and gentle, which is what Llewy needs.

Happy birthday to Millie 🥰 x

I think sleep nudging sounds great. I'll look into it. I think I sort of did that when I was "teaching" Cass to sleep in the her crib in the early weeks.

I love that you say on and off the boob between 1-6 it's like what's the point of looking at the clock when it's all a blur...

The wriggling is so noisy isn't it even if they are content your awake you are lying there aren't you ...Cass likes to throw her legs up and slam them down repeatedly hehe!

Good luck with Llewy and the early mornings!

Those hours between 1-6 are just a blur of boobing and wriggling 😂 he's never crying or anything, he giggles away and just wiggles like a worm, impossible to sleep through!
