Can someone give advice please. My son of 34 had the autistic test 2years ago and was told he had a child's test. Now 2years on because I am fighting against this they are now saying it was not a child's test. When I was told that the Trafford one only assessed children my son is now suffering with depression and anxiety on top of his Autism. They won't to meet up to again lie to put faces and there is no way I would be able to get him out of the door to go. I know my own son and know he is in the autistic spectrum. I am going to keep going till I get answers. But not from the people who have lied in the first place has anyone gone through the same thing and how do I get my son the help he needs

My son had his test at 28 a few months back. This person specialised in adult testing. However, so long as your son's test was was done by a properly qualified person who is NHS approved, I would not worry. Much of the test so far as I am aware is similar to that a child would have, but they adapt the questions etc to suit an adult. The carer/parent (if available) who was with the person as a child would usually be asked to give an idea of their childhood.

One more thing - if your son is suffering from depression and anxiety make sure that he is referred to the local mental health team as my son has these problems too. If they suspect anything is amiss in additions to the mental health issues, they will do something I am sure to help, so long as you make sure to express your concerns.

Thank you for replying. It's just that he is fighting every day and that is just to get out the door. I will keep going till I get him support. Will keep you informed

I know how hard it is and I feel for you both - my son rarely leaves the house or indeed his room. He is completely isolated and friendless. You do have to keep fighting it is the only way. I wish you luck.

The thing is now there saying it was not a child's test. When at the time he was told it was. So it's a fight against them. As who is going to believe us. 1point off and he's told he is not. It's all wrong. I know my own son and I know he is. Just hate the thought of him not getting support. I need to learn were to go next. As I won't to go against there report. And need to know if there are others who have gone through the same thing

I feel your pain. Have you tried ringing the National Autistic Society Helpline? They may be able to offer advice. Good luck and I hope you get answers soon. My husband (45) is on the waiting list to be assessed as an adult. It's not an easy process.

Thank you. I really hope it's soon for your husband. It's not right the way people are treated. At all. X
