Do rollators/walkers give SCA-people an illusion of being able to actually walk ?
I think they work very well while you are on level ground that is even.
Hi Jurgen!
I hope you are well.
What do you actually mean re this question? I don't use either, but if the
balance, confidence and stability they give is what I feel when pushing a
supermarket trolley, then I would say yes the sensation makes you feel
as though you walk normally.

Hi wobblybee
that was what I meant
thanks wobbly
You sometimes feel like the blind chap in "Life of Brian:"
w ho thinks that he´s o.k. - but falls in a hole shouting
"I can see"

I walk absolutely fine using my rollator providing I walk slow. The minute I speed up or let go and its a different story.
Hello Jurgen, rollators are brilliantI use mine all the time at work indoors and outside & I have used one for 10 years plus now so I am a professional user over any terrain, after you have got used to the wheeled frame it really helps you keep steady makes you walk more up right, though you do have to make sure you have the handle bars at correct height, it is said the handle bars should be high enough so you don't stoop over to push and don't push frame too far away from you body either or if you will fall you won't be able to stop yourself, bring it quite close in to your body and once you have mastered the frame you will be able to pick up speed and have good control. I advise four wheels over three out side as my experience with three wheel is not pleasant, toppled over a couple times & in the road on one occasion & it was really scary. Good luck.

Re my being enthusiastic about using a supermarket trolley. I once pulled one
out of a trolley bay and suddenly my left leg just gave way completely. I fell flat,
pulling the trolley over as well. This was prior to being diagnosed, luckily I escaped
serious injury. I don't know anything about rollators, but if I had one I feel that the
the height of the handles would have to be similar to that of a trolley, to enable me
to use one confidently. When my children no longer needed a buggy, it took me
ages to get used to walking around without something to hang on to.
