Hi welcome🙂 I live in the UK, my ataxia was diagnosed as Idiopathic in 2011. Have you found any benefit to ataxia symptoms by keeping to a gluten free diet?

Thank you. Unfortunately I haven't seen any difference in my symptoms since cutting out gluten but I've been told it could be many months before I could see any improvement. I've just got to be patient which is not easy to do.

Yes, from other comments I’ve read response can take a while, and be variable. I know how stringent diet has to be, it will take a lot of patience.

Hi Janji, I've been on the gluten free diet for 6 months and so far no improvement, in fact I would say my symptoms are a little worse. It could turn out that I don't have gluten ataxia at all!

🙂 I tested negative to Gluten Ataxia, but never the less I make an attempt to cut down on Gluten. Years ago I was diagnosed with Candidiasis, too much yeast, sugar and carbohydrates (they turn to sugar) can upset my system, and (to my mind) trigger ataxia symptoms.

Copied from celiac.com (I searched Candidiasis linked to ataxia)

Third, if wheat can cause neurological damage as in gluten ataxia, it is reasonable to assume that Candida could also do so by the same process. Reports of Candida infections causing neurological symptoms are not uncommon; now we have a possible explanation.
