Episodic Ataxia & Without a Wide Gait

I’m diagnosed with Episodic Ataxia type2, My Ataxia doesn’t seem to be as obvious as most Ataxias and in between having severe debilitating symptoms of where I’m in a wheelchair I don’t have obvious signs. I can walk heel to toe with very little problem even though at times appear wobbly or unstable yet other times do it perfectly during my neurological exams. This took years to diagnose, as I showed not much in between my severe episodes. But turns out I have Ataxia anyway and was diagnosed by an Ataxia specialist after several years. Is this normal to not walk with a wide gait like most Ataxias?

Good morning EA, my wide gait came upon me slowly, and now I use snd electric powerchair for my own safety when out and about, and my wife doesn’t have to struggle to pick me up if I fall!

I have an ataxia style gait (diagnosed with FND) I walk normally until the point where I walk like I'm drunk.

I will sometimes wander as I walk or veer off to the side similar to vertigo but without the dizziness.

I too can walk heel to toe, but would never make a tightrope walker 😂

Normally I look perfectly well, but I do use a wheelchair should my symptoms be present. Which isn't all the time thankfully, I haven't used it for a couple of weeks......maybe there's been a miracle ❤️
