I have never had a problem. I am now 73 and have just come back from a holiday in Australia. I have used insurance4life or Axa. There is normally an excess of about £280 but this is also because of my age. Hope you have some success.

I'm insured was Aviva, I informed them about my Ataxia and was told that the diagnosis was not a concern to them.

Hi din55a,

I was diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia in 2012/13. I was initially insured with Friends Provident since 2004 who were subsequently taken over by Aviva, I first contacted Friends about two years ago to inform them about my diagnosis and was told verbally that it was not an issue. Because I never had proof by letter, I phoned again, when I found out about Aviva becoming the new owner, again I was told that my condition was not an issue and I asked for and got something in writing to confirm this.

Good luck with your search for an insurer.
