Stem cell research is still in it's infancy, according to my neurologist. if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

I have heard from one person who has had stem cell treatment,it did improve things but sadly only lasted a couple of months, so I guess that means it does have great potential but we need to wait for futher research into it. The fact that it did improve her body quite a bit re enforces the fact that our bodies are not permanently damaged, they can heal, so we should never give up hope

Stem Cell. By definition, all stem cells: have the ability to divide and create an identical copy of themselves, a process called self-renewal; and. can also divide to form cells that mature into cells that make up every type of tissue and organ in the body. Research centres are using these on a daily bases. The future looks a lot brighter as stems will be able to repair areas that have been damaged. Most stems are used today and are very successful and are in use in hospitals with injecting it on the area of conditions. Have a lovely day you do wonderful work as a carer take care.

Stem cell treatments for Ataxia advertised today are all scams. Real stem treatments are many years away. You will find no one with Ataxia that has a provable long term benefit recorded in a medical journal. The short term benefits reported by some are no greater than one would expect from a placebo effect. In addition stem cell technologies will not be a cure because they would only help repair damage. It is highly unlikely that they could be used to treat the underlying cause.

The only treatment available today is simply to maximize the patient’s healthy choices including specialized physical therapy, exercise, and diet.

My Neurologist offered to send a SCA2 patient with a nurse to observe treatment and pay the $150,000 cost. They declined, to treat. Wonder why?

Save your money and enjoy the $150k on yourself now :)
