When we’re desperate for a diagnosis the thought that putting a name to it seems to help. But, when it finally is put into words, often we’re just left feeling numb. It’ll take time Daisy, to get your head around this but with help and support you will manage ((hugs)) 🙂xB

I have it too. How old are you? I was 49 when diagnosed after symptoms started in my 40's. I am now 54 and it is progressing. Take care of yourself.

I’m 38 years old. My symptoms started in my teens.

Hi Lorraine,

It seems that it took rather a long time for you to be diagnosed - did you get a wrong diagnosis to start? My neurologist tried all other tests first before FA because of my age. How are things going with you? Do you work or not. I had to sell my self-catering business a couple of years ago because I couldn't cope with it any more.

In my early 20s I was diagnosed with dystonia. In 2017 I was told by a doctor at my local hospital,I could have ataxia, the doctor said she was referring me to a hospital in London. I was diagnosed 25th of January 2018. I’m waiting for a appointment to see a cardiologist, I’ve had breathless for a while. I’ve used a wheelchair for nearly 2 years. I don’t work either, it takes too much out of me.
