Hi Chaz. And welcome!

A very friendly bunch here. And always happy to give advice, and a supportive ear when needed. It can be good to talk to a stranger who is in the same boat.

Iain (49, was diagnosed with spinocerebellar ataxia in March).

Hi Chaz,

I'm in Letchworth. I have SCA2 diagnosed earlier this year. You'll find this a brilliant place to ask your questions and get support

Hi Jay, I'm in Hitchin and I'm the mother of a 10 year old with Ataxia. I've just set up a facebook group called Hitchin Special needs and disability support group. Come and find us. I remembered seeing you on here and thought we might be of some use. Emma

Hi!

Thanks for the info and I will certainly be joining - it is great to know that there are contacts locally - as Ataxia is a fairly rare condition, it can be a bit isolating!

Have you checked out the Facebook group Spinocerebellar Ataxia Research and Support Group - I'm a member and it is a great group.

Looking forward to joining your group!

I truly hope that diagnosis never comes Vion!

My older cousin (female) hasn't been diagnosed yet either. But having spoken to her at length, over the last few months/years, some of the small things that she has noticed sound like she definitely has the same :(

She was seeing a neurologist too, at the same time that I was, and completely unknown to me in the beginning.

Iain :)

My Dr has finally got his fingers out and is pushing for a neurologist to see me in November if I'm lucky, in the meantime I struggle but smile 😊

If anybody is having falls, and is having difficulty getting referred to Neurologist. GPs can refer you to a Falls and Syncopy Clinic.

Following on from tests done there, I had an MRI. This in turn led to me being seen by a Neurologist.😊xB
