Hi. My daughter (12) is starting her third course of Azithromycin today. Her asthma has been bad since end of October, the consultant suspected a mycoplasma infection and two courses of Azithromycin seemed to finally have cleared it. She was better for a good week, then went downhill again. Started coughing up yellow phlegm this morning. The consultant already said to give her antibiotics again but I’m starting to wonder if the infection is caused by something that’s resistant to Azithromycin. How do I get her tested? Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. The X Ray taken on Friday didn’t show signs of an infection but the consultant said air flow to her right lung was reduced. Thank you!

Would seem sensible to take a sputum sample and look for a different antibiotic to try.
