Self isolating query

So confused with all the asthma advice going around, just a few questions. In 2018 i was diagnosed with asthma following a consultant referral and numerous chest infections/xrays. I had been on numerous steroid inhalers leading upto the consultant, they put me on qvar 100 2 puffs. Following this period i had a really good year whereby i *thought* i didnt need inhalers and basically stopped the steroid. Since September i have found myself using a reliever inhaler quite a bit especially following exercise. Basically i have been very non compliant with my asthma an do think i have a mild form now, definitely not severe. Work have asked of i am asthmatic and i feel like i should say yes but do i really need to isolate for 3 months? I dont consider myself severe enough?

I Would return to taking your steroid inhalers immediately! This is not a good time to undermine your lungs!

I agree with all the comments. This is not the time to play about with your health and as the virus affects the LUNGS it is important that you look after them, even if you only suspect that you are asthmatic. Sorry if you think my comment is a bit harsh I am only trying to help, But keep yourself safe and sound and we will all beat this. I AM TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER THE WAR BUT I KNOW WHAT MY PARENTS WOULD HAVE SAID. "WE BET HITLER,THIS WILL NOT BEAT US!!!!!!!!"

You definitely need to be taking your inhalers but you don't necessarily have to isolate for 3 months as your Qvar dose is well below the threshold for "high dose steroids" according to Asthma UK. You should of course be careful about being near others because any asthma is a potential risk.

No question about it, you must take your steroid inhaler diligently and ensure that you have a new one on order from GP/pharmacy. Good asthma control is vitally important.

You should be practicing strict social distancing and your employer should have protocols in place to ensure everyone can do this in the workplace. If you can work from home then do so.

Definitely tell your employer that you're asthmatic. This provides you legal protection under the Equality Act 2010, especially in the workplace.
