Just wondering if anyone gets really thick gunck that gets stuck and can't cough it up. I've had that for a while now and not sure if I'm getting a infection as when I manage to cough it up it's a different colour. My chest feels tigh and am breathless with it to . Hope I don't have a asthma attack as I've had this before and ended up in hospital.

Carbocysteine is normally prescribed for thick mucous or N-Acetyl cysteine, which is available over the counter if the former doesn't suit. Montelucast is often prescribed to asthmatics to reduce the volume of mucous.
However, if your mucous is coloured, then it might be infected, and you ought to see a doctor.
