Pulmicort side effects

Hi all

I have been getting this really fatigued foggy head, feeling tired, lack of energy and generally feeling down. My asthma wasn't well controlled over the last 3 months and I was on 200/6 symbicort x 4 twice a day so that's 1600mg budesonide a day then my asthma doctor has told me to go on an additional pulmicort inhales which give me an extra 800mg daily dose of budesonide. That's 2400mg daily of budesonide. At the start I felt fine really good but after a couple weeks I have started feeling horrid. Even my eyes are straining easily, sensitive to light more and feel like my head and body are not connected. Could this be the high dose of budesonide? I have tried montelukast a few times not but could never get away with it. I would father have the side effects from that than this. I think I'm going to start the montelukast again and go back to my original symbicort dose. I can't carry on feeling like this.

Thanks for reading

I think that self diagnosing like this is unwise. See your GP asap and if you aren’t happy with that, insist on seeing a consultant. Give the nurse at Asthmauk a call in the meantime.

Hi chrissie

I was at my GPs on Wednesday this week about it. the reason I got the added budesonide was because I didn't like the side effects from the montelukast. But the side effects from the added budesonide are even worse so I'm reverting back to my original treatment plan. The doctors say this is fine.
