2 in 10 days! - seriously fed up.

I finished prednisolone on Wednesday after an attack on Tuesday last week, and had another attack yesterday morning! I've been back to my GP and am now on fostair and montelukast (I was previously on fostair with salbutamol as and when). Everything hurts, which I'm guessing is muscular aches and pains from all the coughing/wheezing/hyperventilating, but they've asked for a chest x-ray as well to be sure there isn't anything else going on.

I'm just fed up with it all, really. No one really seems sure what has set it all off!

I have just started a course of pred, so sympathise!!

Have you been on a one week course?

My GP and asthma nurse have always prescribed a 5 or 7 day course of 6 or 8 tablets a day, but my new consultant has changed this to two weeks of 4 a day, starting as soon as things start to deteriorate. His view is that it is better to nip things in the bud rather than wait until you are ill, and also that if you stop pred after only a weeks course you may not have recovered enough, and are then more likely to get sick again.

However, should say that my main trigger is viral infections, so maybe this advice is only relevant for that situation?

Not surprised you are not happy. My first asthma attack end November last year I had a stop start recovery due to combination of ignorance on my part lack of continuity with seeing lots of different doctors. Took three plus weeks of stop start prensidolone. Thanks to asthma uk helpline and this forum got there in the end.

On the prensidolone 40 mg 4 day after my second asthma attack. My downfall heavy sharp shower lots of tree spores dropped in one massive hit.

I got back five day plan and lots of ventolin every 4 hrs. Will definitely be going back not improved.

My airways got sensitise week before by a cold. It's a matter of reflection and analysis your history wek or days before. We all know that making notice of our individual triggers. Change of weather can be a big factor.

I hope and pray you are better soon and get the help you need. Can't recommend effort asthma uk helpline. I rang Wednesday 4:45pm the lady stay taking to m til 5:15 pm. Be brave and assertive with your Dr's.

I haven't been well this month either. I wonder if it is the weather? It was a bit cooler yesterday and yet I was quite bad so I am so confused. Also, my hay fever has been really bad too. Sometimes asthma doesn't make any sense. Hope you feel better soon.
