Worth a call?

Not sure if i'm being daft

I've been coughing for about 3 weeks - not badly just enough to be annoying, for me and everyone else i suspect!

I don't wheeze and my cough isn't as constant as it has been at other times when i've been bad and i can breathe fairly easily most of the time. I'm not totally sure it really is asthma but the ventolin seems to calm the cough somewhat which seems to suggest it is.

I don't think there's any point going to the gp but i wondered whether it was worth a call to the asthma nurses on here. The ONLY plan i have is to double the preventer when i get a cold or exacerbation but i'm not even sure if this counts :-s

Hello! Sorry about the cough. Must be annoying.

Yes i think it would be worth a call. A cough is a symptom of asthma so i think that would ""count"" as an exacerbation. So i would imagine it would be a good time to double the preventer for a while. However obviously im not medically trained so if i were you i would give the asthma nurses a call. I gather theyre very understanding and helpful.

Hi!

Yes I'd say it's definitely worth a call, they will be able to advise you better about whether to see your GP too - though tbh I always find my asthma nurse much better than the GP anyway!

A cough is one of my first signs that my asthma is slipping out of control, so if you can nip it in the bud at this stage so much the better I'd have said xx

This counts as a time to double preventer in my opinion. The preventer should help within a week and if it doesn't then off to the GP. I hope you're feeling better soon.
