What level of breathlessness is 'normal'?

DS is nearly 3 and has pretty bad asthma, its pretty controlled at the moment in the sense of no big (hospitalised) attacks for a few months however his levels of breathlessness are getting worse. When running around playing he has to stop after about 5 minutes and he still has to use his pram a lot when out.

Is this parr for the course with asthma or a sign its still not properly controlled?

I'm interested to know too as my nearly 3 year old is the same. He takes little breaks every so often then carries on with his brother or friends. I don't know if its asthma or stamina or bit of both.
