Qvar- When to start re-taking it.

Last year I was put onto Qvar after a long over due review with my local asthma nurse.

I have mild asthma and didn't feel I needed a change in my medication but I did notice I had a persistent dry cough which never amounted to a cold etc.

The qvar got rid of the cough and several months later after my peakflow rising from 270- 360/370 I decided to stop Qvar with the agreement from my GP.

He believes my asthma has worsened to due to high stress.

However now that summer is approaching I am starting to sound weezy, though the cough hasn't returned, I wonder wether or not I should re start Qvar.

One thing I found confusing with my asthma nurse is that she said at every sound of weeze I should use my ventolin but yet my GP only felt I should use it if my asthma was irritating, or preventing me from doing something.

Try getting an appointment with your asthma nurse. Even mild asthma should have an annual revue. Meanwhile use your ventolin inhaler and keep a record of how often you are using it.
