KA Holiday - Ardingley Younger children

Our 9 year old son has a place on the Ardingley College KA Holiday. We were just wondering if there are any other boys of his age going? He is quite worried about being the only boy!! Not quite sure why....but as this will be his first time I think it could reassure him to know a bit about other children he will meet there.

Hello!

I will be one of the medic-volunteers on the holiday for the younger children at Ardingly.

Please do reassure your young man that the boys tend to waaaay outnumber the girls on these holidays, so he'll be in excellent company! And he'll have a fab time!

My daughter went to Ardingly last yr and is going again this yr and she was definitely in the minority and is going again this yr , not sure sure if she will be with younger or older kids as she is 12 . Im sure your son will be fine .

Yay for the return of Hopalong Jnr!

Thank you for all your reassuring messages. I will let him know, he will be really pleased and relieved. He is already really looking forward to his holiday and this will put his mind at ease.

Hi my son Joe he 8 nearly 9 will be going for his 2nd year running he can;t wait to go he didn';t want to come home to his boring old mum last year and my very quiet shy daughter 15 can't wait to go either

my daughter and son said the same thing it was lovely being normal mum and no one worrys and stares when u take yr inhaler lol

personally i think that says it all after all the problems and stick they get in schools

hope he enjoys it

hopalong yr daughter will be in the oldies this year won't she if so shauna will be in her group

dr kath have we got any ideas on wot any of em are doing this year

karen

Shauna has already squeezed some hints out of Dave regarding the oldies' hol on the Kick-Asthma message boards, heheh!

Because I was running the asthma training session at the training weekend, unfortunately I didn't get to spend any time with the littlies' volunteers doing the planning, so I only have a very vague idea of a couple of things. But I shall post when I find out a bit more!

awww thank u dr kath

sorry i now rem shauna saying something about asking

just me being mum and liking to know wot they will be upto lol

fed up with joe loosing his inhalers god i hope kick a helps for a while when he comes home i can stop nagging for a while about taking meds and keeping it on him at all times when out and about yet another inhaler has been lost this weekend and then going to school without one good job they hv a spare one.

i went to a lot of trouble convincing the school that he was to keep one on him at all times and wot has he dun in the last few weeks , yep left it at home on 3 occassions wouldn't be so bad but as i pick up the youngest from nursery at the same time he has to walk home with his older brother

sorry my rant over grrrrr kids

karen

You can certainly rely on us for that! ;) heheh, it's one of our main things on the holiday...ICE before they go out in the morning - Inhalers, Creams, Epipens...you could try reminding him of this, he might get ""brownie"" points for remembering it from the outset (and particularly if he gets a good report from mum when she's dropping him off ;))

Is there an adult holiday

Strange question but is there n adult holiday?

It would be good if there was an adult holiday or some way adults with asthma could meet up or something like that.

o plumie wouldn't that be lovely a child free group sounds absolutley bliss to me

Nothing to stop you lot getting together whilst the kids are away! ;-)

Hmm getting together would be good, but it would be where? We are spread far and wide, any one any ideas?

Hi, My son who is 8 and daughter 6 are going to Ardingly this year for the first time, they are both very excited but I am so nervous, they make friends very easily so your son I'm sure will make friends with my son.

Karen - im not if Chloe will be with the older ones as she is 12 1/2 and did ask to go with the younger ones if poss as she has a very good friend she made last yr who isnt quite 12 and they want to be together. TBH she is quite immature in some ways so she would probably be better off with the younger ones. Either way she is very excited already even though we have our family hols first!!
