I have had trouble with my chest for a long time now (many years). I have been to doctors several times in the past about it. All they have offered me every time is an asthma test, which comes back negative.
I have difficulty breathing, like I can't get a big enough breath.
My chest feels tight all the time.
I get pains in my chest. This doesn't happen all the time and is very random, for example I don't have to be doing anything strenuous (i could just be laid in bed) and out of no where I get really sharp pains in my chest, always my left side. It stops me from taking a regular breath. I have to take really short breaths until it subsides. And it stops me in my tracks if i am doing anything. It usually lasts a minute or so but just recently two days in a row, early hours of the morning while I was in bed the sharp pains came on and lasted half an hour the first time and about twenty minutes the second time, the next day. Now this did scare me because I havent had the pains for that long before, I almost rang for an ambulance.
Sometimes my heart skips a beat too or feels like a flutter, sometimes it feels slugish too, not sure if this has anything to do with the other problems I'm having though.
Also I am always feeling ill, I nearly always have a cold or flu and have had a few chest infections in the past. Nothing is ever really looked into though its usually a case of take these tablets and it will go away. That isn't the case though, would someone please try and help me.
Thank you

Hello Tattytaz
I don't know enough to help you but I can imagine that you are worried and I don't think it right that your GP does not hear your worries. I am sure there is more that can be done for you. Please call the Helpline - 03000 030 555 - A BLF nurse will listen and help you. I have heard from many posters on this site that they are very good. Good Luck and let me know how you get on.
Anna
Very good advice from psorias above,,,the BLF are the best to talk to...
We are not professionals, just fellow patients. Try ringing the BLF helpline as detailed above or contact them via email for more detailed help.
We're just professional sufferers, we have our problems full time
As is being suggested, please call the helpline on 03000 030555, they are open 10-6 Mon-Fri and have professional people who can advise better than us amateur armchair medics via a public forum.
You could have lung problems other than asthma, but the pain could be from something else like a cracked rib. You need to be checked out properly.
Also have a chat with the NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group, what used to be the PCT. Their PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) team are on 01482 335409 Tell them of your concerns, they may be able to arrange for a different GP to see you.
