I too am an optimist Martin, and although I'm not sure about a cure, I do believe I can do a lot to keep progression at bay.

Agreed. And just that feeling of having some personal agency in the situation makes it much easier to live with.

Yes Jan, that's right when my youngest of four sons was 1 year old he could hardly breathe with asthma type symptoms, used to hold one of those large plastic bubble contraptions with a mask one end and inhaler on the other , for most of the day. We thought he would die he was so weak and pale with lilac eyes. Turned out he had a nut allergy despite loving his smooth peanut butter on his sandwich. He was diagnosed at 4 years old and our household went completely nut free (not easy back then nothing labelled really) had to go back to basics, not even Easter eggs available then. We were told there was no way he would grow out of it or no cure. When he was half way through Seniors he became part of a study at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington London. He has no allergy now, or asthma symptoms in fact he has to eat peanuts and tree nuts a couple of times a week. So things do change. Research leads cures, I am optimistic for every type of illness to find a cure. That weak little boy now towers over my husband and me and lifts bags of cement onto his shoulders like they were cotton wool. :)

Martin, I am totally convinced that there is a cure around the corner or at least something to hold it back until they find that cure. You carry on believing.
