It could be arnica - at least that relieves bruising. I get bruising but in

my case it is due to old age.

Me too Annie! The cream I'm thinking of was mentioned in a blog a while ago - I think it was called something like Double Day Cream but I've not been able to find anything on Google.

Thanks for the suggestion xx

I've gone from being a tough as old boots mechanic to someone that bruises if you look at me too hard, Annie.

My consultant told me that it was probably the 'Symbicort' inhaler that was the culprit !

Will do a u turn here. No, not arnica which is good for bruising such as walking into the door. Our sort of bruising comes and goes in a mysterious way - good advice down below.

Doublebase gel? It is supposed to "improve the integrity of the skin" in people taking steroids. I haven't been using it long but it has already helped

That's it! Thank you sooo much. I've been put on 10mg Prednisolone every day and I am covered in horrid red bruises all over my arms and legs, looks like I'm being abused lol.

Can you tell me where I can buy it - chemist or Boots or do I have to get a prescription?

Thanks for that information - I must have missed the first blog. I have been on prednisolone 10mg for several years and my arms and legs are always a mess. Most of the time I cannot think what I have done to get the bruises - and they take so long to fade!!

I will try it out.

Maggie

I think you can get it over the counter for about £12.50 (probably cheaper online) but I get it on prescription. It comes in a 500g pump dispenser which lasts me about a month as I only use it on arms, legs and top of chest. I haven't been using it long but it has totally stopped the itching and dryness. Prior to this I'd tried everything and settled on vitamin E cream, but this is much better. It looks as though it's going to be oily but it isn't, you stroke it on your skin in the direction in which the hairs grow, and after a few minutes it's absorbed. I use it about 5 mins before I get dressed or get into bed, and obviously after every shower.

I haven't had any skin damage since I started using it (fingers crossed!)

My respiratory nurse prescribes mine for me, it is very good and helps a lot. Keep smiling and as well as you can

Hirudoid cream is also good for bruising. You can buy it over the counter.

Can the doublebase gel be used if you're on oxygen at home? I'm struggling to find a decent moisturiser that I can use and this sounds like it might be multipurpose!!
