and failing it working you can take the socks off and ice skate round the kitchen.

Or sniff the socks to unblock your nose

Would take more than a bit of Vicks to stop that being potentially fatal - I really must change my socks more often :O

Oh, auntymary...that's taking things a bit too far! Maybe it works because of the reflexology connection .I beleive that the big toe represents the brain so -

.....maybe we should just stick this in a pot of Vick! lol

Not as good if you have cold feet though...

It's making a slow release system of the medication. You slap it on, but then cover it up, so the vapour is slowly released during the night without being too strong.

Does it mix with mature cheese?

I find the vapor more than I can take but do remember the old wives tale of placing a sweaty sock around the throat with no idea of how this was intended to work is also a mystery beyond my understanding.

I read a while ago that it was good for split finger nails. So I rubbed it on my nails and it worked !

my Canadian daughter in law told me this is what her mum used to when they were children, spoke to her mum and she says it is the quickest way to get the vapour rub into the system to help relieve coughing. Not convinced about this.

I rub lavender oil on my feet to help me sleep that works too.

Heard that an onion is good too for warding off coughs etc (wrapped in the sock ) can well see that these remedies will soon get rid of your bed mate (if you have one) :)

Hi there! yes I've heard of it as someone told me about it some years ago! Well it hadn't stopped my sons coughing who has asthma but it has helped him breath a little easier when he has a cold but doesn't work if he's wheezing, but it works for my grandson who hasn't got asthma but it's good to know it helps you and others & my grandson to stop coughing, that's great!

i laughed when my daughter told me to do this for my granddaughter last week, i forgot the first night she was here and as usual she coughed on and off all night, i did it on the second night and blow me it worked! not quite brave enough to put it on myself cause any strong smell sets me off but yes as mad as this sounds i have seen it work!
