I've also posted this under Jo's bedroom tax blog but am posting it here too in case it gets overlooked there. It's just occurred to me that this is only 3 weeks away, yet I've had nothing in writing about it, either from my Housing Trust or the Housing Benefits Office. Has anyone else had any correspondence? Bedroom tax
No same waiting for how much they want.
Hi a member of my family has today been told she has to pay 20 percent on of her yearly poll talw bill and will only get an 80 percent rent rebate.
Ann
Had my council tax bill today and 100% awarded - have 2 bedrooms but a son still in higher education so safe until 2014 as it stands at the moment. A worrying time, unnecessarily for a lot of us.
Your figures are right Stitch, but it may be that this other person has too much income, I have a private pension so don't get the full HB or Council Tax rebate anyway and will now lose another 14% on top. Makes me wonder why I bothered paying into a pension, thought I was doing the right thing at the time. Unless you start young and pay in a high percentage of your salary it would seem a waste of time. Libby .
We have had a letter from our local council here in Pembrokeshire, AND a visit from our housing association officer [who didn't really know what she was talking about!].
We actually won't be affected because our grandson requires 24-7 care and we have carers staying overnight, however we still have to provide proof to the people who ought to be aware of our situation. [please see my profile for more info]
BUT... this is NOT a 'tax' - as all politicians [correctly] state. It IS a BENEFIT CUT. Our housing officer told us that she had been TOLD to call it a 'tax' because that doesn't worry the general public so much.
Sick and disabled people are being unfairly targeted every way they turn... cuts in benefits is all it is. And we are even being called benefit scroungers by members of our own family!!
Divide and rule is the Con-Lib policy. I wish everyone would call this a Housing Benefit Cut: that's what it is.
another rant over!! Apologies to anyone who needs them!
Paul
I live in Northumberland and the letters have come out this week.
I agree with everything you say. I thought I was the only one who thought it was a divide and rule policy.
all the best Linda

Know i'm a couple of days late contributing to this paticular item. Live in the Co.Durham/Gateshead area and we received our annual council tax bills a week ago.Three people i know receiving ESA now have to pay a small percent of their council tax bill...looks like no one is know going to be exempt from goverment cuts.Goodness knows how some people will cope once this idiotic bedroom tax is in full force x.
