Alpher 1 .: Been tested.test has come... - Lung Conditions C...
Alpher 1 .
Excuse my ignorance what is Alpher 1 I have never heard of this and want to learn more, it's only six months since I was told moderate copd. There is still much that I do not understand, hoping that will change here with more experienced members passing on what they have learned.
It's a genetic form of copd.
How do they test lungs for genetic copd, have a strong dislike of operations, having two sons would have to know if there is a part of this genetic.
Just a simple blood test.
I will ask my GP if he can refer me for a test, soonest. Will this alter the way copd is treat should anything be found, could be worrying without reason here but have a need to know.
A think its emphasema a know thay do genetic test for that no thay just band most lung problems as copd ... Few years ago thay would give proper name of condition's but now its very vauge
It sounds like it could be alpha -1 antitrypsin deficiency, but you would need to check this.
Hi, if you haven't already then can I suggest calling us here at the helpline to speak to a nurse for a little more clarification? If / when you are ready of course, tthe no is: 03000 030 555 (or you can email if you prefer).
