Hi Music...im at the severe stage and on oxygen 2l for when im moving around /doing anything as my sats are fine at rest but quickly desaturate once on the move.To deternmine if someone needs to go on oxygen you would generally need to have an oxygen assessment which includes the 6 minute walk test to establish how much you desaturate whilst being mobile. Oxygen wont generally help with the breathlessness but aids protection for the other organs that could be at risk during a desaturation phase.Hope that helps

I have been diagnosed with very severe emphysema and I am on just 1/2l ( half ) per minute. it goes to show we are all different. Anything under 88% at rest is considered risky.

Everyone is different - not everyone needs oxygen, despite the severity of the disease.

And don't worry about bothering anyone at the BLF - they're all such chatterboxes that they love talking to us all :D
