I have had c.o.p.d. for several years, is it normal not to have coughing of sputum all the time. My chest feels tight mostly and full but I find it hard to cough, should I take mucodene to loosen my chest a little or should I leave it alone.?
Is this normal?: I have had c.o.p.d... - Lung Conditions C...

Going of my own experiance i would .... I use red inhaler to stop mucus then i feel like you have desribed ... But unlike you i take blue inhaler that helps clear my mucus
But i am no expert and dont know if you have heart condition that could efect you coughing your ring up
Best ring BLF or look on NHS direct website
Hope that helps all the best
Hi, if you have mucodyne/carbocisteine the yes, you need to take it. I take it on a permanent basis 2 x 2 times a day, or 2 3x a day. If you are't already prescribed it, then see your doctor about methods/medications to help you clear your mucus. Libby
Better out than in is my experience with sputum it's a chore bringing it up but if it stays down that is when infection gets set in though lucky not needing to bring up as much as some that have written on here.
My copd nurse gave me a piece of tapered tubing if used as instructed helped a bit apart from that I think its just par for the coarse.
Don't tell my doctor, but a drop of Robitussin Chesty Cough Mixture works wonders for me, I take carbocisteine which really helps, but sometimes I need a little help to loosen it up and move it.
