Hi Carole, I take uniphyllin, it's a bronchodilator so relaxes and opens the airways. I've had it for a good few years now and wouldn't be without it. Hope it helps your condition! Libby

How lucky was that, just checking my email and saw your question! Yes, it's actually a tablet and, as I said, for me it's great, don't think I could manage without it. Libby

Hello Carole :)

I took this drug (just one daily) for approximately 18 months. A blood test is recommended, apparently, every six months or so to make sure everything's ok. My specialist discontinued my use of it though, but I cant for the life of me remember what his reasons were.

I do know that it's not suitable for everybody, but I can say that I didn't feel as though I suffered any side effects from it.

Hi...ive been taking uniphylin since a bad chest infection in 1988. many years before I was diagnosed with COPD, I remember my consultant telling me I would be on them for life,!

my oxygen level couldn't have been that good then.

no bad reactions from them,

I've been taking Uniphyllin for about 2 months. I have found that my breathing has been a lot better since taking it. I only have 1 tablet per day but I also have spiriva, formadil, and miflinide. My specialist also prescribed ompranyt to be taken before food first thing in the morning. Didn't really know why until i ran out of the ompranyt, such bad heartburn and indigestion so back on the ompranyt and the heartburn is gone. Hope this helps.

Hope you can take it caroleoctober. It was prescribed for me and I didn`t experience any nausea but my eyelids swelled up so the doctor said I must be allergic to it. Think it`s to do with Theophylline which incidentally is something to do with coffee! A hospital doctor once told me that he was back home in India for a visit and his uncle had an asthma attack and they were a long way from a clinic so he gave him coffee.

Anyway before I knew I was allergic to it I was once taken into Intensive Care and put on an aminophylline drip because my airways wouldn`t open- so I guess if it became necessary I`d just have to put up with swollen eyes. I really wish I could take it, anything to help my breathing. So fingers crossed for you! Sheila

I was prescribed phyllocontin continus which apparently is similar to uniphylin since taking it my oxygen levels have improved.
