Hello Blackwell

I've just finished a 6 week PR course, it's not just the exercise it's the people you meet and the talks we've had about every subject you could possibly need answers for. And now I'm a Respiratory patient I can call on them whenever I'm worried. I know I feel better for it and will try and maintain the exercise, but I wont know what differnce it's made until my assessment monday.

Hello

So true the social meetings when doing a course help if feeling down and the learning from nurses as well as each other is a real lift in feeling better and doing better.

After a bad exacerbation I have sometimes taken 2 or 3 months to feel anything like I am starting to recover. Try to be patient and do as much as you can manage each day but don't worry too much. I know it's hard and the first time this happened to me I was really scared, feeling like I would stay that weak and ill for ever but then one day I felt a bit better and just went on from there. Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. I do agree with all of the above about Pulmonary Rehabilitation. If you get on a course it is a great help for building up not just your strength, but also your confidence. Good Luck.

My readings have been worse during exacerbations but have then recovered when I have felt better. I am sure you have little to worry about Blackwell. Good luck. x

fev is forced volume from your lungs wich i believe indicates lung capacity keep well

Hi, My husband always always feels that he will never recover after an exacerbation - it just takes longer to recover. I have just had a similar conversation with him - he was on ABs and steroids at the beginning of January and is really worried he wont get any better. He will, just slowly.

I agree with Granny Bell if you can talk to your Doctor and ask about Pulmonary rehab - it changed my husbands life and reduced his fear and anxiety and got him a little fitter. Also so good to see other people who suffer with this.

Good luck and take care of yourself.

TAD xx
