Fire safety check for those with home oxygen + 6 portable cylinders, 1 back up larger cylinder.?

I have my oxygen delivered by Air Products and it seems as though they have arranged for a fire risk safety check which is being done at 2.30 pm today. They have already told me that they will fit free of charge 4 fire alarms but thats all I know. Has anyone out there had a check done and give me some idea of what they do ? Thanks.

My lot done one recently. The chap was telling me about materials getting infused by the oxygen so I should try and keep quite a big area clear of the concentrator.

Thanks PMD My concentrator is in quite a tight spot so perhaps I'd better get it moved.

I think each chap is different. The one who first put it in was ok about where it was placed and also the chap who renewed one of my portable cylinders but the chap who came the other day, his boss I think, said I should move stuff a bit further away. There is about a 3 foot space all around the concentrator at the moment.

Air Products must have a bit of a campaign on at the moment, we had a fire safety check the other day. They put a smoke alarm on the landing for us, everything was OK, even the concentrator in the same room as a log burner but quite far away. They didn't go in the sitting room and see the open fire which I sit by with my oxygen, not sure how they would have reacted to that but this is my 2nd winter with oxygen and I havn't gone up in flames yet, alot is common sense.

I guess I gonna find out in a couple of hours. They'll probably condem the house and move me onto the streets for my own saftey. Ha Ha. Watch out for those flying sparks Lib, I know your Hot Stuff already but be safe yeh'.

The fire brigade have also checked my home recently and declared me safe. My concentrator is less than 2 feet from other stuff and nobody has ever suggested it be moved in 7 years. Shows each has a different opinion. As Lib says it is mostly down to common sense. x

Well they turned up on time in a fire engine which probably gave the nieghbours something to talk about. 2 friendly firemen came in and fitted 4 smoke detectors free of charge and gave me a lesson on fire prevention and what to do in the event of a fire. It was very worth while. They did'nt seem too concerned about where or how I kept my oxygen as long as they new I had it in the house. If they ever had to attend a fire here they could take the neccessary precautions. All in all it was very worth while and the family is safer for it, so well done Air Products and the Fire Brigade!!
