so what would be the best inhaler to help walk a few miles?...any ideas?
Not really the sort of question to be asking here. If you need inhalers or have lung problems then you need to get proper medical help.
A lot of those of us using inhalers will be unable to walk a mile, on a good day, let a lone needing assistance to walk a few.
I would suggest making an appointment with your GP as the next step.
I use the blue reliever one for my copd but I want to walk further
It's still something to discuss with your GP. Although you have COPD, everyone is different, what works for one may not work for another and you need to see what they can do for you.
It's not just about the inhalers either. Looking after yourself, diet, weight, exercise, stopping smoking (if you do) are all factors. Using an inhaler will not make you walk further, the right one may help a little but you need to find out which that is.
How many miles are you thinking of walking he-db and has there been much training needed for this.
Have to admire the spirit that wants to try doing more for improving health and fitness it is a boost for ego being able to achieve a little more when you can. An inspiring tale for sure how many new gym members will have the same thinking on the 2nd of Jan.
what ever inhaler you have been prescribed will be the best one for you db.
Its admirable that you want to walk a few miles, but in reality 15 mins of gentle walking is heaps. having said that, I started off walking for 10 mins, and slowly built it up to the point where i can now do a 7 Km bike ride.
But as you probably know, not every day is the same, so don't be put off by the bad days, and just persist.
I found a good way for me to stay interested is download Runkeeper (Its free) register, and then download the runkeeper app on your phone. (Smart phone only)
When you start your walk, start runkeeper on your phone choose the type of activity, and away you go. Its a GPS tracker, and it tells you everything.
How far, time taken, your average speed, calories burnt, elevation, and gives you a google map of the route you took. After your walk save it on your phone, and it will be on runkeeper on your comp. Open runkeeper click on activities and there it is. I found it a good way to keep track of how I'm going, and its an added interest for me. You can have street mates on there as well so you can keep an eye on them, keep them on the straight and narrow. If anyone is interested my street name is kjhynes.
Cheers
thank you
now i know what i want from santa!
I would walk a million miles if I could but if I start to get out of breath I tend to stop bend over a little and try to take deep breaths in through my nose and out through my mouth. I have not long finished a Pulmonary rehabilitation course. That helped me decide how far I could push myself. Good luck.
thank you for your kind remarks, it's peaple like yourselves that me me and others strive more and more each day....thank you
and i will walk further
