i had miy first flare up of suspected copd i was told exercise was good but think i overdid it is over exercising just as bad

Try for a pulmonary rehabilitation course, you'll get plenty of ideas on how to manage your COPD, ask your GP for a referral. Also check with the BLf helpline to see if they still have copies of the dvd living well with copd.

It's a fantastic DVD, I can really recommend it. I do exercise, but I also listen to my body to judge how much I can do an a given day as it can vary.

The aim of the exercise is to make you breathless but not gasping for breath. As advised, a PR course will help you to hit the right level. Until then try the DVD as exercise is one of the most important ways in which we can help ourselves. Good luck.
