Dad went in to hospital at 4am. He was just sleeping when he felt like he had a frog in his throat as they say, so coughed to clear it and that was it, couldn't stop coughing and couldn't breathe.
Upon arrival, he was in such a bad way that they discussed putting him on life support but thankfully it wasn't needed. Dad pulled through in his usual determined way and again has shown his true strength of character. Even when the docs were poking him here there and everywhere with needles etc he was joking with them. He had an xray to rule out a pulmonary embolism and is being treated incase he has an infection. He's on IV antibiotics, 60mg prednisolone, MST amongst others.
When I went up earlier to see him with my 6 yr old, his face lit up, especially when she gave him a Christmas card she made him bless her. He hadn't eaten since yesterday but managed a little ice cream while we were there and some grapes so that's something.
My mum nearly passed out when we were there this morning though, it is really takin its toll on her. She hasn't been back up to see him and instead of worrying about himself, dad is just thinking of mam in his usual selfless way. I hope she will have a good night sleep and wake up feeling alot better, dad too. Mam has never been on her own so I hope she will settle. I will ring her in a mo.
Well, that's my update for now, will keep you posted xxxxx
