I can only tell you that as a pensioner myself, and my husband claims attendance allowance, I can not claim carers allowance as it would be taken off his attendance allowance, you can't have both when you get a state pension, we don't get housing benefit, just a small amount off the council tax, hope this helps

Hi if you are paying for carers to come in from a private company you will get more housing

benefit,

if your carer lives with you somebody like your husband/wife who getting carers allowance

for careing for you, its possable you may lose some housing benefit,

Try ringing the BLF and asking for benefits advice.

hi

A paid for carer is classed as a second adult, for the purpose of 'second adult' rebate.

This the only case in which someone who is not a non-dependant can be a 'second adult'

Hi

As you have been awarded attendace allowance it is now possible for someone to claim carers allowance, if they are caring for 35 hours a week or more. If the carer does not live with you then you will quailfy for two bedroom rate of housing benefit rather than one bedroom rate if you live on your own. If you do live on your own and nobody claims carers allowance for you and you get pension credit you may now quailfy for extra pension credit. I do hope this makes sense if you would like further information on this please call us on the helpline 03000 030 555

Kind regards

Carol
