My dad did. He was feeling naff all week, just not right. He didn't have a cold, sore throat nothing and the cough was there as usual so that didn't even give him a clue. It was only when he was coughing up blood (from severe coughing-nothing serious if you know what i mean) that he went to hospital and discovered he had a chest infection. So I guess now dad knows that when he feels just not right again, to start his emergency medication pack and ring his GP.
It is Lynne, I've had a silent one before the indication was not able to exercise as usual, much slower walking, a burning sensation in the lungs, tight chest and pain in the back. Any worsening in symptoms can indicate a chest infection. If you can check in with your doctor tomorrow (or walk in clinic) an infection can usually be heard through the stethescope.
Hope you are ok and soon feeling better.

have you had your flu jab recently? I had mine yesterday and today i`m feeling a bit rough and chesty as if its the start of a chest infection but if every other year is anything to go by i will be fine in the next couple of days my nurse says its just a reaction to the jab h and my arm hurts sob sandra
I had mine a week ago and my pneumonia jab so it could be those. I just felt more breathless and a little bit 'not with it' for the last 2 days and my peak flow was down (I also have mild asthma) but no cold symptoms at all and I don't cough anyway. This morning though, I feel back to normal.
I will see how the day goes.

Hi Lynne it cat be quite scary when you feel that way. My doctor does not give my lungs a sounding at any point as she says they do not respond to the stethoscope. Begs the question how do you know then if you have pneumonia. Wonder why so few professionals specialise in lungs (no offense to my own doctor she is good in general and I have no problem in renewing my inhalers) just makes me wonder.
Can't they hear a crackle through the stethoscope, my doctor always listens to my back for a crackle, he also does that tapping thing they do.
