Hi

Welcome - lots of people will be along soon to give you the benefit of their experience - so to start the ball rolling...

I can send you an information pack about COPD - and also a very good DVD called "Living with COPD" - just call me on the Helpline - 03000 030 555 - and I'll get them sent to you.

A normal balanced healthy diet is the best thing to follow - but depending on your particular circumstances you may need more individual advice on your diet eg. oral steroids stimulate the appetitie which leads to weight gain.

The shakes can be a side effect of some inhalers - give us a call to discuss that issue.

Hope that helps

Mark

Hello directmystery, welcome here.

I'm su with bronchiectasis, 63, a different condition to you but I had half a lung removed 1972.

I don't feel freaky about it, in fact it's a dam good excuse to stop people getting me to do too much ! sorry you are getting the shakes, I get that with ventolin, might be your meds.

There are lots of nice people on here with COPD, I'm sure they will be able to help more.

I has LVRS 3 weeks ago so I am still recovering but the signs are good, is is medication that is giving you the shakes?

What sort of food are you eating, I have an alergy to MSG which is in a lot of Chinese food and that really gives me the shakes

It is a bit early to tell, there is still so much bruising coming out and they said it will take quite a while before the lung is at its best, I can breath on and feel it pushing by ribs which O couldn't do before so the signs are good, have got bit of an infection at the mo so on antibiotics and preds so sats of 95 resting might be a bit false. It is still early days.

sometimes if we are a bit down or depressed it can spoil your appetite, food with lots of colour is good, I always feel hungry after getting out for a walk and clearing the cobwebs, hope you feel better soon and good for you giving up smoking 5 years! take care,Carol x
