Hi ruby red and welcome to the group we are a mixed but good bunch of people always willing to help each other some days some post are not strictly about COPD etc but a window into the life of the sufferer eyes for example is our resident David Bailey taking some fab picures of wild and farm life where she lives and meets on her daily exercise walks.
Hello & welcome Rubyred. I have had COPD about 10 years now & recovered from lung cancer about 2 years ago. x
Hi scorpiolass,
I'm glad to meet you. Whats your stats on your copd? ( fev 1 , oxygen level , peak flow reading. Does everyone with copd go on oxygen? Are you? What kind of lung cancer did you have? I know I ask alot of questions. How else will I get to know everyone? Right?
Hi rubyred, My stats vary, FEV1 has been around 43% (severe) for a couple of years but recently moved to 52%, (moderate) good but it can just as easily drop back. The Consultant said it was probably due to infections & asthma elements.
I personally think emotional stress contributes; as my elderly mother became ill & died in April of this year.My own health problems & being a carer for my mum was a lot to cope with.
Not everyone with COPD has oxygen, it depends on gas exchange, mine is quite good but I was on Oxygen when I had the Lobectomy & Pneumonnia. The cancer was stage 1 Squamous cell carcinoma but no sign now, almost 2 year on. Good - yes!
Keep on questioning, there is no shame in not knowing something but we can't learn unless we ask. Margaret x
Hi rubyred, and welcome to you. I am sure you will get to know a lot of the wonderful people on here who are always full of help, sympathy, advice and humour too when needed. I am carer for my hubby who has sarcoidosis (23 years), copd (4 years) and chronic back problems too. This time of year is not great but we do our best to stay well and always have the flu jab. You live in a great part of the world and do tell us more about yourself when you feel you want to. Take care xxxx
